Issue paper 7: How GCE can encourage youth engagement by developing self-efficacy

Publication22 February 2023

In the 5th issue paper, it became clear that providing knowledge about Global Citizenship Education topics is not sufficient to engage young people. Other practices must also be encouraged, including developing students’ political and civic agency. The level of engagement strongly depends on one’s ability to organize actions for a specific goal. This is called self-efficacy. In this paper, you will discover how GCE can promote youth engagement by stimulating students’ self-efficacy.
